Relax into Nature - your way

Morlaix Bay is a natural gem – and not just for its stunning seascapes. From our clear blue waters to the panoramic viewpoints or the dappled green sunlight of our woodland, we have fabulous natural spots that provide instant relaxation. And isn’t that what holidays are all about?

Start at the water’s edge

Of course, it’s impossible to come to Morlaix Bay and not take a moment to admire the sea. There are perfect spots for watersports like kitesurfing, great family beaches, tiny creeks for kayaking and even boat trips out to the islands.

Of course, the diversity of the coastline is one of our best selling-points. The coast here really does have something for everyone, from thrill-seekers to sandcastle-builders, and you can always find a good spot on our spacious, sandy beaches.

For a superior view of the shore, there are glorious coastal paths, notably the GR34 that takes you all along the very edge where earth meets sea. If you love dramatic drops, head to the coastal point of Beg an Fry near Guimaëc, with a sheer drop that takes your breath away. And don’t forget your camera - you’ll want it!

Freshwater Calm

If you prefer Nature’s peaceful side, head east to Guerlesquin, right on the borders with the Côtes d’Armor, where you’ll find the lake Etang du Guic. Part of a nature reserve, this lake is a tranquil retreat surrounded by trees, and the 3km walk around the lake is dotted with rest areas and fishing spots.

Mountain highs

Okay, so Brittany is not famous for its soaring mountain ranges but we have the Arrée Mountains that peak at around 380 metres and offer a fabulous natural landscape. There are heathers, moorland and – if you have the energy – some seriously challenging mountain bike trails. Look around as you explore, you’ll probably spot some buzzards, plenty of butterflies and even a few Dartmoor Ponies.

Right at the top you get amazing 360-degree views of the patchwork fields and sparkling seas, and from Menez Hom you can watch enthusiasts piloting their remote-controlled aircraft or admire the adventurous types taking off in hang-gliders or micro-lights. Perhaps you’ll be tempted to have a go yourself!

Places to stay and feel miles away…

Would your dream holiday really include ‘getting away from it all’? If so, you could book a short break on the famous island called Île Louët and let yourself be as stranded as a Bear Grylls contestant (only with a lot more comfort).

Or you could treat yourself to a romantic break in a Gypsy-caravan known as a roulette, and wake up listening to the birds. They are sited so you don’t need to worry about travelling anywhere, but the experience of staying in a charming wooden caravan is unforgettable. Here in Morlaix Bay, there are different sites offering these Gypsy escapes: La Bohème in Guimaëc and Camping de la Ferme de Croas Men.
If it’s a traditional campsite that appeals, try the back-to-basics Camping des Bruyères at the foot of the Arrée Mountains and close to cycle paths, or the Municipal Campsite in Locquirec which is right on the beach and even offers little chalets to rent.

In and around Morlaix Bay, you can also choose from several stopover gîtes, like the 18th century Kerlouérien in Botsorhel. Some of these gîtes include modest dormitory-style rooms, others offer more comfortable bed-and-breakfast facilities, but all will give you a true sense of getting away from everyday life.
